Painting is a process of discovery for me. Truly, I cannot copy myself. Each work must arise from its' own fresh energy, the layers communicating nuances in the expression of the form. Like Paul Klee and, of course, tribal artists, I work to portray the unknown and to explore new territory of being. Depicting "what we see" is not the point for me, it is to find the new.

My painting explores new combinations of colors, emotional perspectives, and highly active compositions. Gesture is a major force, as well as surface movement. I do not strive for polished, technical performances, but explorations that create emotional connection and movement for the viewer. Content, whether obvious or not, is a major element. Spiritual content and ritual is alive in the art world! Denial of the value of content and emotional expression, while fashionable, is boring.
